COST Action IC1205 is involved in the organisation of the 13th Meeting of the Society for Social Choice and Welfare (SCW) in Lund and will support up to five researchers attending the meeting with a travel grant...
To qualify for a grant you must have had a paper accepted at SCW-2016 (as speaker, not just as co-author) and you must be affiliated with an institution in one of the 32 participating COST Countries.
In case more than five individuals meeting these (hard) constraints apply, we will use the following (soft) criteria to make a selection. First, in line with the general objectives of the Action, we will favour applicants who are young researchers (in the sense of either being PhD students or having received their PhD at most 10 years ago), we will favour applicants who are female researchers, and we will favour applicants who are based in countries with below-average access to research funding (particularly, the so-called COST Inclusiveness Target Countries). Second, our specific objective for this initiative is to increase the participation of researchers with a background in Computer Science (or similar) at SCW, which traditionally has been considered an Economics and Political Science conference, i.e., we will favour applications from researchers with such a background.
The grants are intended to cover essentially all your expenses (transport, accommodation, meals), except for the registration fee.
To apply, please send a short email to Ulle Endriss at ulle.endriss(at)uva.nl with the subject line "COST SCW Travel Grant Application", including the following information:
- Title, authors, and ID of your accepted SCW paper,
- Affiliation (the place where you work or study),
- Estimate of your travel expenses (transport only, please be as precise as possible),
- CV (as PDF attachment), including enough information to allow us to evaluate your application in view of the criteria given above.
The application deadline is Friday, 22 April 2016. We will inform you of the outcome as soon as possible thereafter, and in any case at least a few days before the SCW registration deadline on 20 May 2016.
