Social Programme

DialDam will start on Monday afternoon around 2pm (see the schedule overview or the full technical programme in PDF). The DialDam registration fee includes coffee and tea during breaks, lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday, welcome drinks on Monday evening, a boat trip along the Amsterdam canals (during the Light Festival) on Tuesday evening, and a joint reception with the AC on Wednesday evening. The DialDam banquet (on Tuesday after the boat trip at the Indonesian restaurant Puri Mas) costs €30 extra. We will have a Rijsttafel consisting of many different Indonesian dishes. Here is the menu for the standard non-vegetarian option, but vegetarian versions will also be available. See more details on the social programme.

Venue

DialDam will take place at the Amsterdam Business School (Plantage Muidergracht 12), in the city center and only 300 meters away from the location of the Amsterdam Colloquium (Euclides Building, Plantage Muidergracht 24).

The closest tram stop is on Plantage Middenlaan, near the Amsterdam Zoo (known as Artis). Tram lines 9 and 14 stop there, the former coming straight from Amsterdam Centraal train station. Schiphol Airport is well-connected to anywhere in the world and is only a 15-minute train ride away from Amsterdam Centraal. You can use this journey planner for public transportation.

Accommodation

We have prepared an interactive Google map showing the venues for SemDial and the Amsterdam Colloquium, and a selection of nearby hotels and hostels. Click on each hotel on the map for price information. Some of these hotels offer special rates to DialDam/AC participants. The list of hotels is also available here.

Cycling in Amsterdam

For the real Amsterdam experience, we recommend you to rent a bike. Some hotels have their own rental bikes but you can also rent them at e.g., MacBike or RentaBike. Bring some gloves (it is December after all) and have a look at these tips for safe cycling.
