Dear subscribers of the ESSLLI newsletter:

We shall keep you informed via the ESSLLI newsletter
about the developments in the preparation of ESSLLI
2008. The newsletters will be sent out at least once
a month, and more often as ESSLLI 2008 approaches.

ESSLLI REGISTRATION OPEN UNTIL 1 JULY. The ESSLLI
Registration will remain open for three more weeks,
until 1 July. We will close registration after that,
including the possibility to order course material
and other things (see below). Please make sure that
you register before 1 July 2008.

ESSLLI COURSE MATERIAL AVAILABLE. The ESSLLI course
material is now available on the website. Go to our
programme page at

  http://events.illc.uva.nl/ESSLLI2008/programme.php

and you'll find a link to "Course material" below
many of the courses. This will open a PDF file with
the course material that you can download and print.
Most of the courses have made their material
available freely on the webpage; some restricted it
to the registered ESSLLI participants. You will
receive an e-mail with a password for the password
protected files very soon.

Note that this year, there will be no ESSLLI CD. If
you cannot print the material yourself, you can
order printed and bound readers from us at the
production cost via the registration page: tick the
box that you have already registered and order the
appropriate print-outs of course material. In order
to receive the material at ESSLLI 2008, you should
pay immediately with either paypal or credit card.

ESSLLI 2008 EXCURSIONS. We shall be offering three
excursions on Sunday, 10 August 2008. The first
excursion will be a trip through the famous harbour
of Hamburg; the second will be a canoeing trip
through the canals of the Alster and across the
Alster itself; the third one will be a bus trip to
the nearby Hanseatic city of Luebeck. All excursions
cost EUR 20 per person and can be ordered via the
registration page (tick the box indicating that you

ESSLLI 2008 MEMORABILIA. We are now offering the
ESSLLI 2008 T-Shirt and an ESSLLI 2008 Mug that you

HAMBURG PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION INFO. We have created
a webpage describing the Hamburg public transport
system (HVV) which you can find at

For those of you who would like to use public
transport regularly (but do not live in Hamburg), we
are offering an ESSLLI week ticket that you can also
order via the registration page (tick the box
indicating that you have already registered).
