We have reserved a contingent of rooms at
the Kongresshotel
Potsdam for the very good price of 47,- Euros per night,
including breakfast. The hotel is of modern business hotel standard.
To book, please go to the hotel's website,
and don't forget to mention "brandial" under comments to get the
special rate.
N.B.: Our rooms are blocked only
until July 28th!! If you miss that date, however, you will
still get the special rate by citing "brandial" if there are rooms
left. [fully booked now; 7/8/06]
[ From hotel to venue: 10 min by bus
("Kurzstrecke", 1.20 Euro; service 3 x per hour); from hotel to
city centre: 10 min by tram (frequent service until around
midnight). ]
-
For those that want a little bit more comfort, there is also
the Parkhotel
Potsdam, which very conveniently located just outside of the
park where the conference venue is. The price for a single room
there is 81,- Euros. (When booking through the website, please
also mention "brandial".) If this is fully booked, try the next option.
[ From hotel to venue: 5 min by bus
("Kurzstrecke", 1.20 Euro; service 3 x per hour), 10-15 min by
foot; from hotel to city centre: 15 min by bus (service the whole
night through). ]
-
Another option is the
Steigenberger Hotel
Sanssouci, which is also located just outside of the park, a
little bit further away. The price for a single room
there also is 81,- Euros at the special brandial06 rate. (Looks
like you have to call them to get that rate: +49 (0) 3 31 / 90
91-0 )
[ From hotel to venue: 10 min by bus, 20 min by
foot (nice walk through the park); hotel is in city centre. ]
-
You can also search for rooms on your own
on Potsdam-Tourism
(while the main pages are also available in English, the online
booking form, not terribly helpfully, seems to be available only
in German. You can also try calling them (see contact details
here),
if the form doesn't work.)
The venue is on the "Neues
Palais" campus.
-
For students we can try to arrange private accommodation with
students of our university; please contact us if you'd like to try
this option.

Lastly, it is also not impossible to take a room in Berlin and
commute every day (which takes a little more than one hour each
direction, using the Regional Express train RE1;
see Getting There), although we
wouldn't recommend that.
