Synthese Conference on Qualitative and
Quantitative Methods in Formal Epistemology

Welcome

Welcome to the Synthese Conference on

Qualitative and Quantitative Methods in Formal Epistemology

which takes place on 20 and 21 November 2014 in Amsterdam.

The goal of this meeting is to bring together researchers using formal methods in epistemology, methods ranging from logic to probability theory. We create a forum to present new developments, exchange ideas, explore and establish new connections between the use of qualitative and quantitative methods in formal philosophy.

Topics of focus include, but are not limited to:

  • Formal representations of belief;
  • Bridge principles between qualitative and quantitative methods;
  • Belief revision strategies;
  • Knowledge update rules;
  • Coherence requirements for belief;
  • Epistemic justification;
  • Types and representations of uncertainty.

Everyone is welcome to attend our synthese conference in Amsterdam as well as the satellite workshop on
