On 29-31 August 2019 the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in collboration with the University of Edinburgh (UoE) will organise a Summer School in Egmond aan Zee, the Netherlands.
The Summer School has the following themes:
Individual cognition: symbols, reasoning and causality
Cognition & Machines: cognitive science and interpretability in natural language processing
Many minds: population cognition, agency and dynamic logics
Interactive cognition: dialogue and experimental pragmatics
Its overall purpose is to work towards development of a collaborative project that can break new ground within this very broad area. To facilitate this, we are looking to attract attendees interested not just in sharing their expertise with others and getting a taste of what goes on in other areas, but actively interested in learning enough about these other areas to begin to see how we can all use other research perspectives to dig deeper into questions of mutual interest to which none of us currently has answers.
Participation is initially by invitation, but we will consider opening registration more widely later.
The location is the full-service holiday resort Hotel Zuiderduin in Egmond aan Zee. It is located about an hour north of Amsterdam on the Netherlands' northwestern coastal peninsula.
