Topic and Focus in SDRT
The work described here is part of a larger effort to develop a theory of
discourse representation based on the Praguian framework of Functional
Generative Description (FGD, [Sgall et al., 1986]). We are aiming at a
framework for {\em analysis}. Given an utterance of a sentence, we want to
analyze that utterance by constructing its tectogrammatical representation(s)
and by building an interpretation with respect to the larger discourse
context in which the utterance occurs. In this paper, we will be concerned
with the latter.
